I apologize in advance for the clumsy syllable and possible spelling mistakes. And also for a lot of text. Brevity is not my sister. I'm a tech guy and not a writer at all.

To begin with, I've never liked crossovers. It seemed to me that this was a marketing ploy in order to sell an elevator station wagon to customers for 20 percent more expensive. If it's an SUV, I thought, then it's a frame one. And since I didn't pull on a frame SUV, and I wasn't going to sell a kidney for this, I drove myself slowly on various small Japanese. Mostly I preferred Toyota and Mazda, because at one time I was amazed by the reliability of my first car, Toyota Corolla E12. To be honest, I would have ridden it today, but the size and number of children did not allow this intention to be realized. And it's boring, if you look at it. I had to change from Corolla to Auris station wagon.

But one day I decided to build a country house. Or rather, I bought a plot first.

And that's when I realized that despite all the charms of a minivan, I need an SUV. With all-wheel drive and more or less normal ground clearance. The road to the village was drivable at any time and some 500 meters across the field were completely impassable. And for the sake of these 500 meters, I went to buy an SUV. I'll say right away that I went for the Mazda CX5. I am an old man and not rich, so I decided to buy a 2-year-old car under warranty.

After examining several options, I came to a well-known salon in Kiev to watch a black Mazda CX5 with some incredible discs. Passing by a row of parked cars, I saw a white SUV with a Ford nameplate. Believe it or not, but until now I had no idea about the existence of the Ford Kuga II (C520) 2012-2016. Externally, I liked the car and I asked about the price. When I heard the price, I was surprised by all-wheel drive, a classic automatic, heated seats, glass and mirrors are also heated, and this is only 120,000 less than the black Mazda CX5, despite the fact that Ford was a year younger. Well, this is Ford, I thought, but I thought about it. At home, I scanned all the information on the model and found nothing wrong. Everyone said that yes, it's certainly Ford, but the car is reliable, comfortable and perfectly carries its owners from point A to point B. In general, having invited an expert for greater importance, and having checked the car as far as possible in the parking lot of the salon, I decided to take a chance and buy. After the purchase, I got behind the wheel and ... how much life looks different from the window, albeit a small, but SUV. You look at everything and everyone from top to bottom, with a creak you cut through the snow porridge under the wheels on all-wheel drive and you don't blow your mind. The machine slowly picks up gears, and the engine rustles inaudibly somewhere far ahead. By lightly pressing the gas pedal, you get a restrained growl or even a micro-growl. Apparently, the designers deliberately achieved this effect. Do not think that you will get a cosmic jerk or acceleration. This will not happen, after all, there are not 6 cylinders here. But you get a portion of pleasure from a properly tuned exhaust system in full. After all, from such trifles, the overall impression of the car is created. Comfort and here I have nothing to complain about. Quite a rich selection of driver's seat adjustments. The back is certainly not a Pullman, but the chairs also recline. There is an additional socket for gadgets. With the rear seats folded, you can throw an air mattress to stretch out and have a great night's sleep. With a height of up to 185 cm, it is quite comfortable. I also liked the handling, especially after Toyota. You just don't think about such things there. And Toyota engineers didn't seem to think about them. The Ford electric booster turned out to be quite a good thing. You feel the steering wheel when you need to feel it. There is a sport mode and manual gearshift. One of the pleasant little things is, perhaps, the socket in the trunk opening the rear
door with your foot.

Reliability. I've always believed that Ford makes disposable cars. I was probably wrong. Judged by the Ford Focus of the first series. Of course, some F150 without comments is a force. But I'm not going to get it. But here you have an ordinary not quite popular, but not expensive crossover. It is inexpensive, if compared with the Japanese, stuffed with all sorts of cute nishtyaks to the brim. In the database: automatic transmission, alloy wheels and so on. And he's reliable. It doesn't break, you only change consumables all the time, waiting for some kind of ambush, but there is no ambush. He drives himself and drives. So why would I overpay for a Japanese car. For the mythical reliability, which is becoming more and more mythical every year and it is provided, in fact, by the fact that the most simple and essentially outdated solutions are used. But what about the nice little things, for example, the warming grid of the windshield. Try to order it in a basic Toyota.

Spare parts and consumables, by the way, did not ruin me at all. Everything is always available and you can pick up a decent replacement for the original right there from official dealers. However, again, I only changed the discs with pads and filters.

All this is of course controversial, this is not a technical report of a good specialist, rather, it is the consumer's point of view. A consumer who needs a simple, convenient and reliable car here and now. And I can afford it. Not a dream, but a reality.
