Kislovodsk, Berezovaya Balka or Berezovsky Gorge

Kislovodsk, Berezovaya Balka or Berezovsky Gorge

Birch Beam is considered one of the most picturesque gorges of the North Caucasus. It begins on the Bermamyt plateau of the Rocky Ridge and ends in Kislovodsk. The length of the canyon is 17-18 kilometers, the rock walls rise to a height of up to 100 meters above the bottom of the gorge, along which the Berezovaya River runs. Some climbers hone their skills here.

The Berezovsky Gorge appeared from the course of the Berezovaya River. A washout was formed in the Mountain massif under the influence of erosive destruction by water. Subsequently, over time, the waters of the river formed a picturesque gorge, exposing steep cliffs. Due to the deepening of the riverbed, grass, shrubs and trees grew on the slopes of the gorge. Nature has done everything in its power to make people enjoy the wondrous beauty.

The gorge is very interesting from the point of view of archeology. Almost next to Kislovodsk, on the inaccessible Moseikin Cape rock on three sides, the remains of defensive structures and burial grounds of the VI-VII centuries BC were discovered. And fragments of ceramic dishes and arrowheads were found near the Tatarka rock.

Due to the sheerness and height of the rocks, the gorge is popular with rock climbers. Various mountaineering competitions are held here. It is also one of the locations of the international festival of aeronautics "KMV-Pearl of Russia", which has been held annually since 1998.
