Reviews of the Canon EOS 100D camera

I bought a Canon EOS 100D camera for nature photography and subject shooting and portraits for personal use.

Included with it were 2 lenses (1 whale and 1 zoom). After a while, I bought another lens for a beautiful background blur (bokeh) and clearer details.

Overall, I like the Canon EOS 100D.

Of the advantages of Canon EOS 100D:

- small size, fits in a bag/backpack, or even can be hung around the neck

- light weight

- price

- 2 default lenses

- good quality and reliability

Of the disadvantages of the Canon EOS 100D:

- the battery does not last long, especially when recording video

Canon EOS 100D is recommended for use by novice photographers and photography enthusiasts.

I can't call myself a photographer, but I am a fan of "taking pictures" and "editing" photos in photo editors. At one time I was engaged in food photography and sold master classes to culinary online magazines, moreover, at that time I had a good camera, but not a mirror one and had to spend a lot of time editing photos. I dreamed of a DSLR, but compact, and at the same time powerful, because I like compact things, this is most likely due to the habit of moving, I carry everything with me. I surfed the Internet for more than one day, studied a lot of reviews, recommendations, models, and my choice fell on canon EOS 100 D. I especially liked the fact that its body is made of a special material, thanks to which it has a small weight, small dimensions and, at the same time, is not inferior to more powerful semi-professional ones (although professionals will say that there is no such thing as a "semi-professional DSLR", but I put the following meaning into this concept: a fairly large matrix, a good set of functions, high-quality photos to mirror counterparts. I bought the Canon EOS 100D a year ago (for 30 thousand dollars) complete with an EFS 18-33 mm lens. To be honest, soon after that I stopped taking pictures of food, and it so happened that for more than six months I had him lying idle. I will not list its characteristics, since most of them do not tell me (as well as many amateur users) about anything and detailed characteristics can be found on any website of photographic equipment.

I will describe it clearly for ordinary people. Canon EOS 100D has a touch screen (display), an 18-megapixel matrix, a large ISO range (photosensitivity), video in Full HD quality; a clear menu (thanks to the touch display, everything can be adjusted with a "finger poke"), there are all the necessary modes; it is convenient to hold with one hand (even with a miniature female pen); A lot of functions, various filters, automatic and manual settings, you just need to learn how to configure all this manually, since auto mode does not always give the desired result. The battery, however, is weak, you have to charge it often.

And the most important thing that I was guided by when choosing was excellent reviews from professionals, their opinions were enough for me.

Canon EOS 100D is a very light SLR camera.
I bought this camera spontaneously, got into a photo equipment sale. I picked it up and was pleasantly surprised by its weight. Very light. After looking at those . characteristics, I decided to take an old Nikon as a replacement.

The Internet is full of technical tests, reviews of this model. I read it all after the purchase, but I realized one thing, the biggest disadvantage of this camera is its price at the time of purchase is more than 25,000 money. I bought it for 15,000 money. I will say that I am very pleased.

Canon EOS 100D is a budget camera, beginner, amateur level! If you choose your first DSLR and it is very important for you: weight, size, shooting video in FullHD, a good touch screen and that the model is not very old! This camera is for you.

About the advantages of this model Canon EOS 100D:

weight and dimensions
the screen and its functionality, if you watched the video, then you understand what I'm writing
about here fast camera response
photosensitivity
a lot of screen prompts
interesting plot programs
LIVE VIEW mode
a good entry-level whale lens
Full HD video shooting
Another plus is compatibility with a large number of lenses without any adapters

Now the cons of Canon EOS 100D:

the battery is very small, you need a spare.
a non-rotating monitor
sometimes smears autofocus, but maybe it's the photographer, not the camera

Conclusion. I don't appreciate the technical aspects of this camera. There are professionals for this. I am an amateur, and for me it is very important how this camera will work in the hands of an ordinary person who is just taking his first steps with a DSLR.

I have been choosing a camera for a long time - after all, this is not a purchase for one year, it's a shame to miss. Requirements: to shoot an excessively mobile child, often in low light. And so that it doesn't cost a million, and it doesn't weigh a ton.

So, how I came to Canon EOS 100D: at first, everyone dissuaded me. And you don't need a mirror. You can't do it. It's not just a button to press And it's heavy. Buy a CD / mirrorless / take a picture on your phone and calm down.

So, not a single digital camera, iPhone will not give a good image in difficult lighting, and even if the subject is twitching and does not want to sit still. It's only now that I realize how many good moments I've lost due to the lack of a good camera before.

Mirrorless mirrors are a new trend in the market of photographic equipment. But alas, those models that I can afford have sinned
a) the delay in photographing after the shutter was released (the object managed to escape from the frame)
b) in low-light conditions, they "made noise".

So, why Canon? It seemed to me that the picture of Canon is still warmer than that of Nikon. I could be wrong. And the most important thing is compatibility with Soviet lenses, I still have my dad's Industar and Helios, it was important to me.

It was the Canon EOS 100D model that bribed with its low weight and dimensions - the length along with the lens. I'm talking about a whale now, less than 17 cm, fits into any bag. The picture gives a bright and sharp even in the mode of photographing on the "machine" (yes, it's an outgrowth to buy a DSLR and click on the "green", but I'm correcting myself slowly). I recommend shooting children on the shutter priority mode, setting the shutter speed to 1/250 and below - you will figure it out by experience. The camera picks up the camera and ISO itself, it's better for you to remember what she picked up there and then you can shoot in the manual, focusing on these numbers.

In principle, comparing the Canon lines, I came to the conclusion that they are not much different, this is more of a marketing calculation - everyone will want to buy a cooler one, with fewer zeros in the name. So, Canon EOS 100D differs from 60D
a) in dimensions in favor of Canon EOS 100D
b) battery capacity in favor of 60d
c) rate of fire - the 60th shoots 5 frames per second, the 100th only 4, but you won't notice the difference. And yes, the 60th has a case with metal elements. That's it. Is it worth overpaying?

Well, now an analysis of the pros and cons of this particular model.

Advantages of Canon EOS 100D:

1) The working ISO is quite high. I noticed noises at ISO 3200, in terrible conditions of dim artificial light. A very good result for a camera in this price segment

2) The weight is light

3) A good matrix, the same is on the "professional" Canon models. That is, by choosing good optics, you can take really cool photos

4) All settings are intuitive, good quality even in automatic modes

5) Touch screen

6) Autofocus is clear, misses are rare

7) There is no rotary screen. I often shoot "from the ground", almost lying on the asphalt. Children generally need to be filmed at the level of THEIR eyes, so I would turn the screen and shoot

Disadvantages of Canon EOS 100D:

1) In jpeg format, it sometimes distorts colors, especially in artificial lighting. Shoot in RAW and you will be happy

2) The most serious disadvantage is that it slows down in autofocus in live view mode - when you use the screen, not the viewfinder. If you are filming a jumping child, forget about the screen. Shoot serially - then you definitely won't miss the right frame.

3) The battery is weak, I charge it once every 2 days with not very active photographing. It is treated by buying a second accum on Aliexpress

4) It is not possible to save your settings. It's bad that you have to turn off the flash every time

5) I don't understand the "creative automatic" mode, it doesn't differ much from the automatic, except that you can set the background blur level

Your soap dish (also Canon) I bought it a long time ago, so it's pretty outdated. And there is no living place left on it, since it has been on all the asphalts of our vast Homeland. So I thought about buying a new camera. I thought that my hands were growing out of the right place and decided to buy a mirror. And what? Maybe I'll become a pro in this business? Heh, funny. Well, anyway, the photos will definitely not get worse! I went to the store's website and saw a Canon 100D. At a discount, the model doesn't seem to be old (the announcement date is 2013), the reviews are excellent. So without hesitation, I added it to the basket and waited for the courier. The next day, the long-awaited call rang, and now the camera is already in my hands! I bought it in white (there was no black). The box contained a carcass, lens, battery, charging, USB cable, 2 disks and instructions for the camera as a whole and a separate one for the lens. And, of course, advertising. Where can I go without her?

The camera charges quickly, about 2 hours.Just as it is discharged. But that's okay, it's easier to carry a spare battery, it's small and light, than to buy another model. After all, other models are very bulky and heavy. The weight of the Canon EOS 100D camera with a battery and a memory card is only 407 grams. All 4 hours I carried it in my hands, without parting, and then I didn't feel that my hands were about to fall off. I must say right away, I am small (154 cm), respectively, and my hands are also small and weak. Many complain that because of its compactness, because it is the smallest DSLR in the world, it is inconvenient to hold in your hands, it is easy to drop. But for me, this is not a problem, but a big plus. This Canon EOS 100D camera is perfect for my hand, it's like it was created for me. Therefore, I immediately warn owners of large hands/ hands that this may be a huge disadvantage for you. Before buying in an online store, go to a regular one and see how it sits in your hand, whether you are comfortable with it. It is very important.

After opening the box, guess what I started to do? Well, also recharging the battery. That's right - take pictures! What can I say?Yes, and what should I say? Everything is already visible! The quality of the photos is excellent. Even a mere mortal can handle this camera. The buttons on the DSLR are very easy to understand, since there are very few of them. The screen is touch-sensitive, which makes the work much easier: I clicked on what I needed, and the job is done. I think, after looking at my photos, you will immediately understand: to be or not to be this camera at your home. I really like this DSLR, but the decision to buy or not, as always, is up to you, my reader.

I really like taking pictures, just taking pictures. And I always wanted beautiful photos without any problems. having appreciated the quality of a variety of digital cameras, I decided to try a SLR camera. The selection criteria were simple - something from the latest models, lightweight, compact, so that it takes up as little space as possible in luggage, since I like to travel a lot, and there are always plenty of things with me.

After some thought, the choice fell on the Canon EOS 100D model (the lens in the EFS 18-55 mm kit).

It's really quite light and quite small, it's nice to hold in your hands. The camera has a touch screen and a clear menu. All technical specifications can be easily found on the Internet, especially since I am an amateur and do not really understand them. I will add that the size of the camera matrix is 18 megapixels and video shooting in Full HD quality.

For the most part, of course, I shoot in automatic modes, I rarely use manual settings. But for my family photo archive it suits me. I don't really like the lens itself. It's for ordinary photos, and sometimes you want something more.

I also really like to shoot people, especially children. But I will not put these photos here. But I will say that the portraits also come out well. Photos in motion are obtained indistinct, it is relevant for shooting children.
I am happy with the camera. Perhaps in the future I will replace the lens. In any case, I am already approaching this decision. All beautiful successful pictures!

My Canon EOS 100D camera is from an amateur series, so let's say of average professionalism. In addition, it is positioned on the market as the smallest SLR camera, because only mirrorless cameras are smaller, and Canon has slightly changed the situation and released the capabilities of more serious cameras to the amateur segment, focusing on compactness and huge capabilities. When buying, I chose between a relatively new 100D and 700D camera (but the latter was a little more expensive, and only on order ...) therefore, I made a choice in favor of the 100D, besides, the color of the camera is interesting - white, may the owners of Pentax forgive me, who are still swearing for plagiarism of the color solution.

Housing and management. On the camera body, the number of controls is slightly reduced, thanks to such a feature as a touch screen, which replaces the use of some buttons in Liveview mode.

Mode dial,
parameter change wheel (shutter speed, aperture, ISO),
sensitivity selection
button, shutter
release button, exposure
correction button, depth of field preview
button, switch to LiveView mode / activate video recording
zoom buttons +/- they are also the selection of focus points and exposure lock exposure

correction button crosspiece Q/Set
button view
button delete
button ISO change button

Thanks to its compactness, it is convenient to hold the camera, it seems to me that it is simply created for a woman's hand, the buttons are perfectly organized, pressing them with one hand is easy and simple.

Menu. A fairly convenient quick menu helps in working with additional functions. The interface is divided into groups of elements of different colors; a crosspiece, a parameter wheel and a Q/Set button are used to navigate through the menu. The touch screen is perfectly adapted for the menu.

Modes. On the mode wheel there are all known modes of photography - they are indicated by special icons and hints about these modes and additional settings are displayed on the camera screen.

Automatic mode (green icon),
Shooting mode without flash
Creative Auto (CA) mode
Story programs - Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Sports
Additional Story Programs (SCN)
Manual Mode (M)
Shutter Priority (Tv)
Aperture Priority (Av)
Creative Mode (P)

Photo quality. The camera has an APS matrix and an 18 MP sensor, with integrated phase sensors and can produce excellent images with high detail, and white balance does an excellent job. The autofocus of the camera is tenacious, it can not but please. As a photo, lenses play a big role, if not the first one. At the moment I have two of them, I plan to replenish my fleet soon and buy another one.

Lenses. The kit includes an updated Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM whale lens with a silent stepper motor and stabilizer. For beginners, it is very useful to play with the focal length, understand the features, the blur gives acceptable, the stabilizer behaves well when working with hands. This lens can shoot both macro and portrait and landscape, but still the lens is weak in terms of aperture, it is not suitable for evening and night shooting. My second lens with a fixed focal length of 50 mm is Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM. The quality of the pictures with it has increased significantly - excellent bokeh, aperture, sharpness of the pictures, and although the fifty kopeck piece is best suited for portrait photography, I shoot everything with it - landscapes, architecture and even food. The compact size of the lens just fits perfectly with the same compact camera. But the lack of a stabilizer and sometimes overshooting autofocus slightly spoils the overall impression.

Battery. Here, of course, is a minus, the acc is weak, Due to its compact size, less capacious, but enough for 400 photos on average. But it is charged, fortunately, completely in 2 hours, besides, you can have a second or even a third battery in stock.

In general, this baby has been serving me for 1.5 years and I do not intend to part with her yet, as I already said, I want to buy 1-2 more lenses to expand the possibilities of shooting various subjects - a telephoto lens of 70-300mm and a wide-angle lens of 10-18, I do not yet know which one will be the first. During the period of its operation, the camera has never let me down, unlike the memory card, but that's another story. By the way, the advice is not to take cards with a large amount of memory, it is better to have several 8 GB each. Save your nerves.

Accessories. My small set of accessories consists of a branded bag that I ordered for Ali - very convenient, it fits 2 lenses, a carcass, charging, cables, and even a mini tripod. Tripods - one flexible and compact tripod, allows you to attach the camera to a non-standard object - a railing / branch / pipe, the second is more serious from Recam, but also lightweight and foldable.

Flash drives and an adapter are needed for fast data transfer, with the help of a USB-microUSB-SD-SDHC adapter, you can quickly transfer data to your phone, computer and back. I have already warned about volumetric flash drives Transerd failed me twice.

Also on the phone there are a couple of applications for shutter release through the infrared port, and the official canon application with quick instructions, tips and small lessons on how to get a particular plot.

Photo. Well, now a few of my photos that I didn't process in Photoshop at all - everything was obtained thanks to the camera and lenses - different subjects, conditions, lighting, settings.
