Canon Rebel Xs (Canon EOS 1000D Kit EF-S 18-55 IS) - review

Bought this DSLR a long time ago (full name Canon EOS 1000D Kit EF-S 18-55 IS), back in 2007 or 2008.

It is claimed to be the lightest of the DSLRs. It really isn't heavy compared to any Nikon and it has an intuitive interface, I figured it out quickly and it takes amazing pictures. I don't claim to be a professional photographer at all, but I even managed to sell a couple of photos with the Rebel. In good light, takes quick shots, has automatic flash (pop-up), even taking pictures on auto mode, it turns out well. The camera has 7 AF points + you can choose the focus yourself, takes 3 shots per second, getting great pictures of the movement. The flash is not very bright, sometimes it fails to take long in dim light. For such moments, it is necessary to study the instructions and see what modes to use in the dark. I've dropped it several times and banged it against the corners - I must say that the body nevertheless still looks like new. I've been using it for 5 years practically every day and it broke. There are Canon service centers for such cases. In my opinion, 5 years of faithful service is a good indicator. All in all, it is far from a professional camera, but rather a family camera. It does great macro shots, portraits, panoramas, has everything an amateur photographer needs. I don't really see the point in buying something more elaborate. This model is very affordable and has all the "amateur" functionality of a "professional" camera.
