The Irganay Reservoir is a unique natural formation located in Dagestan, Russia. It was created in 1998 as a result of the construction of the Irganay hydroelectric power station and is still one of the largest artificial reservoirs in the North Caucasus. In this essay I would like to talk about the history of its creation, the peculiarities and significance for the region.
