This camera can do a lot!
Canon EOS 50D is not just a camera.
Canon 50D is already a friend for me.
With him, I create my photos, create, compose, come up with interesting shots.
Before this camera, I had a Canon 1000D and a Canon 450D.
I found advantages of Canon EOS 50D compared to its predecessors:
Higher rate of fire (6.3 frames per second);
ISO values are higher. ISO 100-3200 with the possibility of increasing to 12800.
The shutter sound is different, softer and quieter.
The control has become more convenient (the wheel has been added and the upper mini display).
CF card, not SDHC.
Heavier in weight.
A brighter and larger display.
The battery lasts a long time, but a little less than in the 450D.
In general, a great camera. For advanced amateurs and for professional work (although depending on what kind of filming) is quite suitable.
I definitely recommend it!

The Canon EOS 50D camera was introduced by Canon in the fall of 2008 and in the same year it was purchased for personal use, becoming the second digital camera after switching to non-film photographic equipment.
The need for a newer camera arose due to the breakdown of the lifting pin of the mirror on the previous three hundred, as well as the need to further expand the capabilities of the "shooting tool".
Since a small "park" of lenses had accumulated during the use of the previous camera, there was no special need to purchase a new camera complete with some cheap and by and large unnecessary lens.
I note that the difference in the quality of the result, compared to the EOS 300D, was visible to the naked eye and in addition, in the form of additional advantages, it was possible to use cards of the same type - CompactFlash, as well as the same BP-508 / BP-511 / BP-511A batteries. Which, due to the somewhat greater "voracity" of the new camera, subsequently came in very handy.
Next, several raw viewing jpegs saved by the camera in parallel with CR2 files used for subsequent correction (taken with a Canon EF 24-70 mm f/2.8 L USM lens).
For about almost seven years, this camera has worked faithfully, making about a third of the triggers of the claimed shutter resource and was replaced with an equally wonderful, full-frame Canon EOS 6D.
After that, the EOS 50D, having worked for the next owner for several more years, fell victim to a faulty CompactFlash card. However, it is quite possible that it will still be repaired.
A model for advanced amateurs. This was my second DSLR, I approached the choice of this model already absolutely consciously, knowing exactly what I needed from the camera, after reading a bunch of reviews on the forums and weighing all the pros and cons, I still chose this model. I will explain why I recommend the model to experienced users of mirrors. Reading reviews about DSLRs on this site, I conclude that most of them treat the camera like an ordinary soap dish when buying and stop at the fact that they master the auto mode. So, for those who have not dared to dig deeper and figure out what the exposure is, they are not going to find out how the aperture, shutter speed and ISO are interconnected with each other - for this category of people, the camera will be less useful than even its younger models. He doesn't shoot videos, he doesn't have a rotary screen, it's the same crop. But, for those who have climbed into the wilds of photography and have already decided to buy high-power lenses, this model has the right to be noticed, and among the crop mirrors it is probably the most worthy to stay in the arsenal until a full-frame unit is purchased.
Canon EOS 50D is just the "younger brother" of professional cameras, let's discuss its pros and cons.
Advantages of Canon EOS 50D:
1. The only Canon model with a crop matrix that can be independently adjusted under the lens to correct the front and back focus. Usually this function is present only in professional full-frame devices.
2. The metal body, although heavier, makes the camera durable. The model has already been discontinued, but you can buy it on the used market and it will last a long time. And for the money saved, take some kind of fix to the carcass.
3. It is possible to adjust the camera to suit yourself by adjusting your own image style and preserving it (contrast, sharpness, color tone, saturation) - in other words, make your own scene.
4. The type of memory card used in this model is Compact Flesh. It is more expensive than SD, but the data transfer rate is much higher. Especially if you do serial shooting in RAW format
Disadvantages of Canon EOS 50D.
1. No autofocus in LiveVew mode. Sometimes I want to take a picture from the ground, there is no way to lie down on it. Here, the output of the image to the screen becomes useless, because manual focusing with an assessment on a small screen and even from an inconvenient angle is useless.
2. Again, the weight. With a camera flash and a lens, this is about 2 kg. You can get used to it, but it's noticeable when traveling
3. Noticeable noise in the image already starting from ISO = 1000, so I do not recommend setting ISO more than 800. But this is not a disadvantage of the model, but of all cameras with a crop matrix.
4. There is no video recording function. It's not necessary for a camera, but it's still nice to have a video camera analog.
I bought this model already used and used it for a year with fixes 24/2,8 50/1,4 85,1,8 (I didn't buy a whale one) until I bought a full-frame Canon 6D. And I sold 50D for 7 thousand cheaper than I bought it. If you earn extra money on photography, it is quite profitable. In general, I was very pleased with the camera, especially since I know for sure that it is not so important which model of the carcass, as it is important which lens is on it. It is more correct to invest money in optics, and not in the rate of fire and the number of megapixels of the carcass, because the physical size of the matrix for all drops in this category is about the same. So I definitely recommend this model.
I put a four only for 1 and 4 points of minuses. I don't understand why it was impossible to add a video function to the model when previous and subsequent models have it.

Bought with my husband complete with a CANON EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. For a long time we were picking at the settings, figuring out what's what, the camera is not as complicated as it might seem, it's convenient to shoot in Tv and Av modes. The main difference of this carcass is that it has a metal body, the total weight without a lens is 822 g., with my puny build, if you shoot not with an auto lens and focus manually with some wave, then your hands start to shake a little from the strain, which affects the sharpness. And yet I really appreciate it for its body, because it is unrealistically durable. We were riding with him here on a motorcycle and jumped so much that he hit the back of the seat with all the dope. I've already thought everything, kapets! But no, the camera continued to work properly, and even the lens remained alive, only the light filter suffered, it saved the lens by crumbling into a bunch of small fragments.
Advantages of Canon EOS 50D:
- I am a fan of Canon, because I have not dealt with other pro and semi-pro, but here it is intuitively clear where to press and what to twist
- support for interchangeable lenses with Canon EF/EF-S mount, put whatever you want
- the white balance is set almost perfectly, if you want to create
the necessary atmosphere in the menu, we turn the light temperature wheel
- in two years nothing has been loose, nothing has fallen off, all the buttons and twirlers are the same moderately tight and pleasant.
- convenient viewfinder
- ergonomic handle, despite the heavy weight can be held with one hand
- the only one, my own mirror, for which I love madly
Disadvantages of Canon EOS 50D:
- weight, I really, really appreciate its strength, but still it is not for gentle female hands, although if I pick up another carcass now, it will not seem presentable enough to me because of the low weight
Conclusion. A good and beloved carcass for shooting in natural light and with a flash. I highly recommend it to anyone who knows what shutter speed, aperture, composition, depth of field, photosensitivity, etc. are.
