I've been dreaming about the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III camera for a long time. Not even like that) My first dreams were about the G7 X Mark II, but when the moment came to realize what I wanted, I decided to take a model of the third generation, more modern, which is logical.

However, there are very few reviews about this camera right now, and those that are are not the most rosy. It was morally difficult to decide to give almost 60,000 money for a camera that is not completely flawless. But about everything in order.

I bought a camera in El Dorado in the early summer of 2021. It is presented in two body colors - black and silver. Silver is cheaper in some stores by several thousand) But the black case looks more interesting and nobler, I took it.

Of course, there is a guarantee. Charging included. And there is a belt holder (loop) that can be attached to any convenient side (right or left). Nothing special anymore.

First of all, the camera is good because it is compact. Small weight, size - it's cool! Before that, I had to carry a Canon 550 DSLR with me if I wanted to get cool photos outside the house. The mirror was heavy, bulky, and occupied a significant part of the luggage. And the G7 X Mark III fits even in a waist bag, but at the same time takes photos and videos of the same quality as a large-caliber camera (at least if we are talking about models of mirrors that are not super expensive).

Battery life: 265 frames without recharging


The shooting is fast, nothing hangs in the process. You can make a bunch of good shots in a couple of seconds. There is a touch screen mode, which eliminates the need to press the button. The Canon Camera Connect app helps you take photos remotely.

Photos come out good even without games with modes. I like the color, the absence of the need to add filters to emphasize the depth of the frame.

To be honest, I will not call myself an advanced photographer who knows the technique and knows how to build all sorts of white balances and Smile exposure. I needed the simplest camera that would do everything myself. This camera can show a frame, but there is a nuance. And that's the trick. And this is the most important disadvantage that this model has. Sometimes it floats and it is not possible to take a clear picture. It is especially difficult with portraits on a motley background or in nature.

Subject shooting pleases with a blurred background, high detail of the main object. But the accent is often somewhere in the center and sometimes the frames come out blurry around the perimeter. For some, it's artistically beautiful, but sometimes it gets in the way if you have a different idea of composition in your head.

But if the photo still may not be so bad, then the video is quite sad. Here the focus absolutely randomly slides across the frame. Every now and then you correct it by pressing the touch screen at the right point. The same unpacking cannot be removed in one frame if there is an idea to bring objects closer to the lens and remove them from it. I know that the company itself is puzzled by such a focus by the way, there are no problems with it in Mark II and releases firmware that can be downloaded from the official website and installed on the camera. It's difficult for me, I don't want to delve into it at the moment, I use what I have. As a result, you get used to the "peculiarities" of the technique and master its character.

Look at the quality yourself. Personally, I'm happy. In general, it's fine, the details are visible, that's enough for me. If you have seen specific camera blunders, then write - I am curious about the view from the outside.

The camera supports Wi-Fi, you can use it to broadcast live to social networks. It's convenient for bloggers, but I don't use this function at the moment. The PowerShot G7 X Mark III is paired with a smartphone/tablet, which makes it easier to publish files to the same social networks.

The native microphone is not bad. If you rent at home, then you don't have to buy an extra one. Extraneous sounds are not heard during recording.

On the street, voice recording is no longer going so well, as if it is dissolving into space. There is no wind protection. I bought a RODE VIDEOMICRO for the street. In the previous version of the Mark II, it was impossible to connect an external microphone and I am glad that this feature was added in the third generation.

The camera's screen is touch-sensitive, rotatable. Not backlash. For Selfies, what the doctor prescribed, and in principle, is mega convenient if you want to take a picture of the same makeup.

The battery lasts me for a long time, if I only take pictures. The video eats up the charge quickly - after 30-40 minutes in normal HD mode. I don't use 4k - otherwise the camera will discharge even faster. I regret that I did not immediately take an additional battery. He is needed! The original costs from 5,000 money. For a vacation, I advise you to add a couple of these to the package at once.

Manufacturers claim that it is possible to charge the camera and maintain its operation by connecting it to a power bank, but this trick did not work for me, perhaps a special adapter wire is needed.

What else can be noted. They say that the lens of this camera gets dusty quickly. And that you can't shake out the dust yourself later. Maybe. But at the moment I'm not complaining. It may take a year or two of operation to check, not 1 season.

In general, the model has a place to be. It is understandable, in Russian. It works stably. Not afraid of the heat.

Suitable for ordinary people and for bloggers. At the moment, a very nice digital camera that justifies its money. And it can't be compared to a phone.
